There is often strength in numbers, but there is even greater strength in dedication. The Max Foundation serves over 30,000 patients in over 70 countries, and they do that with a small but mighty team of 60 people worldwide. 16 of those people are right here in Seattle, making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable cancer patients in the world, from Africa to the Middle East to Asia to Eastern Europe to Latin America.
The Max Foundation partners with over 500 physicians in about 400 hospitals, providing medicine for life to cancer patients who otherwise wouldn't have access to it. In the minds of The Max Foundation team, cancer is only an obstacle that can be conquered with accessible healthcare and dedicated teamwork.
Overcoming cancer is a tall task, especially when the necessary treatment plans aren't accessible everywhere. The Max Foundation's process is up to the challenge. When a patient doesn't have access to treatment in a certain country, The Max Foundation steps up to send that medicine where it needs to go by working with the doctors in their network. When a patient doesn't know the next step in their treatment, The Max Foundation provides education to them and their family. If a patient feels unsupported, The Max Foundation establishes peer-to-peer and individual care to help the treatment process go as smoothly as possible.
The impact of The Max Foundation
Thanks to The Max Foundation's work through the years, 18 million doses of cancer medicine have been successfully delivered to those in need, and currently, 36,000 patients are receiving the support. Check out all the diseases they've been able to treat through their network of doctors by clicking here.
Before starting treatment on a disease, The Max Foundation and their partner doctors need to know what they're battling. In addition to treatment, patients can receive access to diagnostic testing that isn't always available to people when it's most vital: early in the process!
The 2021 Virtual Maximize Life Gala
If delicious food from around the world, local beverages, and international dances and music sound good to you, you should attend the 2021 VIRTUAL Maximize Life Gala on March 26. You can order your refreshments to your door and then log on to enjoy the entertainment while bidding in the auction. The auction will actually begin on March 22 and run through March 28, so if you can't make the gala itself, you can still make a difference in the fundraising effort that will benefit cancer patients without access to diagnostic testing.
Unfortunately, cancer affects people all over the world. It's the second-leading cause of death in the world, and over 70% of those deaths occur in countries where patients struggle to earn sufficient income. The Max Foundation has accepted the challenge of being available all over the world to help patients who need it the most. Cancer exists everywhere, but that also means cancer can be beaten everywhere.
