Not All Superheroes Wear Capes: Marion Wagner

Sometimes the biggest heroes are the people who you see every single day. The "Not All Superheroes Wear Capes" contest, sponsored by Black Hills Home Services, sought to find people within your communities who were making a difference in others' lives.

You responded by nominating the people you felt were making a positive impact on the community through their job or volunteering. Now Seattle Refined is announcing the winners, who will receive a $1,000 prize and the recognition they deserve!

Marion Wagner was nominated by Lynelle Lovejoy:

"Marion is an incredible volunteer for pets in Clallam County. She does all kinds of volunteer work. Two of her main ones are a lot of work with trapping/neutering or spaying/releasing feral cats and working in the Spay to Save program, which is a low-cost sterilization program for pets."

She recently had a VERY exciting volunteer activity. A cat named Pumpkin has been missing for about eight months here in Sequim. He escaped when the family was getting ready for a cross-country move. The family tried desperately to find Pumpkin. Finally, they had to make their move, but they never gave up hope. As the months went on, I would see posts every few weeks from the family with pictures on all the local Facebook pages, practically begging for any information on Pumpkin. They just wanted to know [what had happened to Pumpkin]. There had been possible sightings, but nothing panned out. Apparently, Pumpkin was recently spotted near a local assisted living place, and they knew just the person to call: Marion. Marion set out a trap, and that first night, Pumpkin took the bait. She took him to get a scan, and his microchip matched! She also bottle-feeds orphaned kittens. I know because I got my perfect "purr" babies from her. She could really use the help with all the volunteer time and supplies she provides, besides the fact that she is just an incredibly awesome woman."
