While there is no shortage of beaches and public pools around Seattle, those swimming holes attract large crowds when the mercury is rising. Have you found yourself asking, "Who do we know owns a pool?" Wouldn’t it be nice to just rent a private pool for an hour or two? Maybe even hold a pool party for a special occasion? Now you can.
Swimply bills itself as the Airbnb for pool owners. The company’s app boasts more than 20,000 homeowners renting out their backyard pools and hot tubs, which just might be the ticket for a brief escape from this summer’s heat. The pool availability in greater Seattle is modest (our simple searches led to 18 rentals in Seattle, 10 in Everett and 17 in Tacoma with some repeat listings). But there are still plenty to choose from. And some locations are 'swimply' amazing.
Like the families who own them, each pool is unique. Some are available year-round, others only during the summer months. Some can accommodate large gatherings, others are for small families only. Many throw in extra features like a hot tub, air mattresses and lounge chairs for free. We’ve even found some that will hire a lifeguard if you desire. Every listing features photos, descriptions of the amenities and reviews from past guests so you can make an informed decision. We found that many of the pools have 5-star reviews, too.
It should go without saying, but you can’t just show up at one of these pools. You’ll need to make a reservation online, including the day and timeframe you want to rent it. While it always helps to plan ahead, some of the listings we found are available for an “instant booking,” meaning you can reserve it right then and there. If it’s available, it’s yours.
According to Swimply, every guest who books a pool can expect a private and exclusive experience in a clean and safe environment. If you have a booking and something isn’t quite right, a dedicated support team is available to you via live chat.
