The geniuses over at Seattle Cider have done it again. We always love their Pumpkin Spice cider (more than the lattes if we're being honest), but the partnership with Top Pot's Pumpkin Spice donut is JUST GENIUS. Who in their right mind says no to a cider and donut combo? Now the only question is....which one is the chaser? (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
We love our friends in Portland for their quirkiness, donuts AND this passion fruit cider. I couldn't for the life of you tell you what exactly it tastes like, so I'll leave it vague: passion-y and fruity. You're welcome! (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
This automatically was the stunner of the Summit, because LOOK AT IT. Whipped cream on anything makes all the difference, and this Raspberry Peanut Butter was no different. The Spokane Valley cidery simply put a little peanut butter whipped cream on their raspberry cider, and boy was it sweet! I personally looked a little ridiculous trying to get all the whipped cream out of the glass but hey, don't want to let that whipped cream go to waste :) (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
Look at that color! This cider combines tart Granny Smith apple juice, sour pie cherry juice, smooth pear juice and - here's the kicker - a hint of ghost chili peppers. And yes, it is a kicker! The Portland, Oregon cidery is known to push the boundaries on flavors, and we were happily surprised with the Sour Cherry. (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
Locust has been a favorite of ours since we profiled co-founder Jason Spears a while ago. But besides a great story - they also make exciting cider! One of the wackiest we found at the Cider Summit was their Thai Ginger. Sounds like the restaurants, or maybe a dinner item right? Well, tastes like one too. Think ginger ale meets cider, in the best way possible. (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
Just the sweetest little combo of hibiscus, rosehips and lavender make for a very ladylike drink from Summit Cider! Guys can totally love it too, for some reason I just picture ladies twirling in a meadow of flowers with that list of ingredients. Regardless, the Coeur d'ALene, Idaho cidery knows what they're doing BIG TIME (we also love their Blood Orange and Apricot flavors). (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
If you love Strawberry Rhubarb pie, you'll love Strawberry Rhubarb cider from Wicked in Kennewick. Just the perfect amount of sweetness will keep that sweet tooth happy without fully feeling like you're sipping straight juice (even though we love juice and would be pleased with that too). You guessed it from the name - this cider is made with Northwest apples AND marionberries from their Corvallis, Oregon cidery. Don't know what a marionberry tastes like? Think sweet, tart and brilliantly red. (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
Easily one of my favorites of the day. I LOVE Moscow Mules and the taste of ginger beer - so combining it into a cider was a no-brainer for my taste buds. And from the look of the line waiting for a taste from the Yakima cidery, I wasn't the only one! (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
At first glance, this looked better to me as an herbal tea than it did a cider - and while this specific one from the McMinnville Oregon cidery wasn't my favorite of the Summit, a lot of my teammates loved it! If you're a fan of the super tartness of grapefruit juice, this baby is right up your alley. (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined)
Yes, you read that correctly. This cider is also a cup of nitro coffee! The folks at Schilling Hard Cider, based out of Auburn WA, have done the impossible and combined two of our favorite drinks into one. Praise! And even better, it's a collaboration with Streat Bean Coffee, a nonprofit that provides opportunities for street-involved young people to reclaim their lives. This was definitely the quirkiest drink we found at Cider Summit Seattle - Schilling told us there is essentially a double espresso in every can. (Image: Joshua Lewis / Seattle Refined).
