Our minds have by no means changed since last year's post - we still love spots like The Gerald too! (Image: Joshua Lewis)

Seattle's Five Meltiest Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Nothing has our mouths watering faster than any mention of gouda on sourdough. If it's a killer grilled cheese you seek, worry not cheddar fiends-- we've got you locked and loaded with this roundup of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in town. We've by no means changed our minds about last year's picks, just wanted to refresh and update you all in honor of today, National Grilled Cheese Day.

Husky Deli

This old West Seattle stand-by has a grilled cheese that will knock your shoes off. The Ultimate Grilled Cheese here has Basil pesto, cheddar, Swiss, havarti, tomatoes and fresh basil. Family owned and operated since 1932, you get a real sense of community sitting down for lunch here. For the sunny days, there's even a bit of outdoor seating!

This Pike Place Market standby does not let down with its sublime grilled cheese sandwich. Beecher's grilled cheese is only $5.94, but you can easily upgrade your situation with Dungeness crab for just a few bucks more. Grilled to order, you can even watch the cheese get made (it's seriously mesmerizing), while taking in some one of the best grilled cheeses in town.

Skillet's Ultimate Grilled Cheese is made with brie, cheddar & American cheese on brioche toast. Add on a side of soup and you've got an unstoppable combo... or if you're feeling extra daring, add on some bacon jam and BOOM-- day made.

Homegrown's grilled cheese is totally decked out-- their ham and Beecher's sandwich comes with ham and Beecher's cheese (obviously), as well as caramelized onion, sage aoili and greens. You have the option to get a half or whole sandwich here, but we think you know what the correct choice on that is.

Latona Pub

This cozy pub a couple blocks away from Green Lake and touts a killer grilled cheese made with toasted walnut bread and sharp white cheddar-- the sandwich even comes with a cup of tomato basil bisque! Latona is the perfect spot to hit for a beer and munchie after a brisk jaunt around the park.
