Seattle's newest sports team and arena have partnered with Washington's oldest winery.
While the city eagerly awaits the opening of Climate Pledge Arena in October, we can add this partnership to the list of "things to look forward to" — the arena, Seattle Kraken and Ste. Michelle Wine Estates have come together on a wide-ranging collab to showcase Chateau Ste. Michelle and 14 Hands wine.
"So much of what inspires us is our history and the Pacific Northwest which is why Ste. Michelle Wine Estates is the perfect partner for us," said Tod Leiweke, Seattle Kraken CEO.
The partnership includes:
- A Chateau Ste. Michelle branded wine bar - "The Chateau" - in the Mount Baker Hall (for club-level season ticket members).
- A branded 14 Hands Marketplace near the main entrance.
- 14 Hands Winery releasing two new Kraken White and Red Blend cans that will be sold in the Marketplace.
- Chateau Ste. Michelle releasing a 2017 Collector's Edition Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, offered exclusively to Seattle Kraken season ticket holders/VIPs/Chateau Ste. Michelle Vintage Reserve Club members. It will then be available for purchase at Chateau Ste. Michelle this fall.
The kicker? Chateau Ste. Michelle has produced two etched nine-liter bottles of 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon — one of which will be cellared at Climate Pledge Arena and opened after the Seattle Kraken win their first Stanley Cup! The other will be included in a dinner with Seattle Kraken and Ste. Michelle principals package and auctioned off at the Auction of Washington Wines this year.
"Delicious wine, great food, championship sport and music are all proud signatures of this wonderful region and the people who call this special place home," said David Dearie, president and CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. "We are thrilled to partner with the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena to share Washington state's world-class wines with sport and music fans in the Pacific Northwest and beyond."
