What happens when you take cupcakes, combine them with ice cream and make it vegan? Uhm, literal perfection? You also get Salt & Straw's first-ever cupcake-inspired ice cream menu!
As part of the Portland-founded ice cream company's "Vegandulgence" series, Salt & Straw debuted five brand new, vegan ice cream flavors in January — all inspired by popular cupcakes.
Salt & Straw dedicates each January to creating delicious vegan ice cream using plant-based and dairy-free ingredients.
"Gone are the days when 'vegan' implies a sacrifice," the company stated.
Here's a taste of the five new vegan flavors:
Carrot Cake w/ Cream Cheese Frosting
Finely shredded carrots and walnuts, spice cake, cream cheese frosting mixed in with carrot juice ice cream.
Petunia's Rainbow Sprinkled Babycakes
Portland-based all-vegan Petunia's Pies & Pastries' "babycakes" (bite-sized birthday cupcakes), vanilla oat ice cream, colorful sprinkles and red strawberry jam.
Coconut Cream Pie Cupcake w/ Lemon Curd
Toasted coconut cupcakes in coconut ice cream with lemon curd.
Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcake
Roasted hazelnuts from Freddy Guys, chocolate ice cream, vanilla cupcakes and chocolate ganache frosting.
Renewal Mill's Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake
This flavor uses Renewal Mills' dark chocolate mix (featuring okara flour, made from soybean pulp generated during soymilk production) to create fudgy cupcakes with salted caramel frosting and fleur de sel-spiked oat ice cream.
These flavors are available for nationwide shipping. Find more info online.
