June is here, and so is the sunshine! Meteorological summer began with mainly blue skies and a bump into the upper 60s to low 70s around the Sound on Thursday, and we'll continue with the beautiful weather for the next several days.

Higher pressure inching in from over the Northern Plains is serving to warm us up and clear us out, so we'll see a steady climb into the lower 70s near Edmonds and Enumclaw for the next couple of afternoons. It will be a wonderful start to the weekend to get out and do some boating, hiking, or just some yard work.

Speaking of yard work, does your garden seem a bit crispy already this season? We're running well behind on rainfall this year, with only roughly 12.8" of precipitation in the bucket at Sea-Tac since the first of January. Our usual January-to-May rain total at the Airport is about 18.8", so that's a hefty deficit.

We'll see a brief resurgence in the marine air on Sunday, and a rush of early clouds may in fact yield some patchy mist or drizzle around the region Sunday morning. However, it won't be enough to make much of a dent in our rain totals, and we'll brighten right back up with highs approaching 70 to finish off the weekend.

Much warmer mercury readings take over next week, with low to middle 80s in the toastier towns starting on Tuesday. All the more reason to water in the snapdragons and fuchsia!
