Beloved Seattle bagel bakery Mt. Bagel closing its doors

It's a sad week for bagel lovers in Seattle.

Mt. Bagel, the beloved bagel bakery in Ballard, is closing its doors, announced owner Roan Hartzog on Instagram.

"This may come as a surprise seeing as business is good," he wrote on the post, "but life stuff is happening, and long story short, I'm moving out of Washington."

Mt. Bagel is a delivery-only operation, with pre-orders going live for the following week on their website Mondays at noon. More often than not, Mt. Bagel sells out in a matter of minutes.

Its last day of operation will be Friday, May 20. It's not the end of Mt. Bagel, however.

"We may be closing our Seattle doors, which is truly a bummer, but I'm also excited for what's coming," wrote Hartzog. "The plan is to fire up the bagel train once I get settled in my new spot."

Expect more details on that soon! But, come May, we'll miss you in Seattle, Mt. Bagel. Thanks for all the crispy, chewy, cream cheese-y goodness you've brought to the city!
