If you're a cat and coffee person, we have the purrfect spot for you to check out.
Catffeinated is Tacoma’s first cat cafe.
So, what exactly is a cat cafe? It's exactly what it sounds like. A spot to sip coffee or tea and maybe adopt a cat while you're there — or at least snuggle one.
Kristi Martin and Melanie Weaver opened Catffeinated in 2019.
"We opened a cat café because we wanted to co-own a small business together that was different, new and a place that brings people joy," said Martin. "Catffeinated is a women, minority, veteran and LGBTQ owned business."
Along with a variety of hot and cold beverages, kitty cake pops and cat cookies, Catffeinated also features adoptable, free-roaming cats inside the Cat Lounge.
"When guests arrive for their visit, they can order their favorite beverage at the café counter then enter the Cat Lounge to frolic with the felines," said Martin.
"We have two purrmanent resident cats, Fanta and North, who are always ready to welcome new friends."
Children of all ages are welcome on Kids Days, otherwise, the minimum age to enter the Cat Lounge is 8 years old.
"Inside the Cat Lounge, we host Cats & Mats (cat yoga) and Kitty Book Club where children can build their reading confidence by reading to the cats and kittens. We are hoping to add additional events this year, including art classes and additional yoga sessions."
Guests are welcome to drop in for a coffee or cat-themed beer anytime, although reservations are required to enter the Cat Lounge and to apply to adopt.
"We are open to all kinds of visits, not just adopters! You can also host a private event, business meeting, birthday party or bridal shower at Catffeinated. Reservations are made on our website Catffeinated.net," said Martin.
Catffeinated is proudly and rapidly approaching 300 adoptions.
"The adoptable cats come to us from our shelter partner Auburn Valley Humane Society and the cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ready for their furever homes."
"Melanie and I love Catffeinated because of the happiness and fun experiences everyone can enjoy. Kitten season is very busy for adoptions but it’s our favorite time of year because who doesn’t love cuddling a tiny kitten?!"
