There's nothing like a family vacation. But the work it takes to make that vacation happen is another story. Hours of packing, busy airports, crowded attractions we're exhausted just thinking about it. Why not stick close to home this summer and plan the Ultimate Family Staycation in Seattle Southside? Just minutes from Seattle, the cities of Tukwila, SeaTac, and Des Moines, provide dozens of ways to get away from it all, without having to buy a plane ticket.
Want a quick trip the whole family will enjoy? Check in to one of several hotels with a pool for an afternoon of fun, then head to the movies for the perfect 24-hour getaway. Little planning on your part, lots of fun for everyone.
Feeling up for more adventure than a night at the movies? Try your hand at flying. That is, bouncing, at the Flying Circus Extreme Air Sports Park. This isn't your neighbor's backyard trampoline. Their trampoline grid features more than 60 trampolines, and over 50,000 feet of extreme attractions! Foam pits, AirDunk and a Ninja Obstacle Course are just a few of the ways you (and your kids) can wear off some energy and beat the heat if the summer temps are too much to handle. Flying Circus also hosts theme nights, club nights and family nights throughout the month.
If trampolining sounds a bit extreme, the more low-key sport of bowling doesn't mean you'll be having low-key fun. Acme Bowl (soon to be Bowlero), is home to bowling lanes, an arcade with both new, state-of-the-art and old-school classic games, billiards and a sports bar. The bowling lanes are an experience in itself, with black lights, lounge seats and HD video walls. You can even get a 6-lb Behemoth Burger (among many other food options) delivered to your lane! There's nothing like dinner, drinks and bowling for a night of classic American fun, and you can experience all that and then some at Acme Bowl.
Speaking of fun – when you go somewhere with a name like "Family Fun Center," expectations are high. Trust us when we say, Family Fun Center in Tukwila lives up to the name. There is something for every member of your family to enjoy, from bumper cars to laser tag, from mini golf to go karts, from Kidopolis Playland to bumper boats (yes, you can bump by car and by boat!). Bullwinkle's restaurant is right on site, so you can easily spend the day making memories and engaging in some friendly competition with your family members.
Finally, there's nothing like a body of water to celebrate family fun in the summer. Angle Lake Park is the perfect place to enjoy warm temperatures. With a swimming beach, kayak rentals, huge spray park play area for the younger kids and 10 acres of lakefront made for picnics and barbecues, there's nothing like a day outdoors to truly enjoy a Pacific Northwest summer day. If you want to take your fun to the lake, there's also a fishing pier and boat launch.
Take away the stress of planning a family vacation with a close-to-home staycation this summer.
