Airbnb, the world’s leading community-driven hospitality company, announced today that its host community earned a combined $49 million in supplemental income while welcoming approximately 106,600 guest arrivals to King County for the five biggest guest arrival weekends in 2019.
The popular weekends all fell during the summer months including events like Seafair and Labor Day weekend.
“More King County families are embracing the economic opportunities of home sharing, which brings an economic boost to small businesses and communities throughout the state,” said Laura Spanjian, Airbnb Senior Policy Director for the Northwest. “We are especially proud of the important role our hosts have played in adding additional lodging supply during these busy weekends, while leveraging this demand to earn meaningful extra income.”
Below are the top five weekends for guest arrivals in 2019:
July 19 - 21
- Total Guest Arrivals: 21,550
- Total Host Earnings: $10.8 million
July 26 - 28
- Total Guest Arrivals: 21,350
- Total Earnings: $10.6 million
August 9 - 11
- Total Guest Arrivals: 21,300
- Total Host Earnings: $9.7 million
August 2-4
- Total Guest Arrivals: 21,650
- Total Earnings: $10.4 million
August 30 - September 1
- Total Guest Arrivals: 20,750
- Total Earnings: $7.5 million
