Pack up the family and set off to see this Samwise Gamgee-approved Hobbit House at The Brothers Greenhouses in Port Orchard, WA. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
The round wooden door is garnished with bright, blooming flowers that create a real-life storybook entrance –– but the real fairytale awaits on the other side of the door. Step inside the surprisingly spacious interior (for a hobbit house) and be greeted by a tiny fireplace. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Owner Cheryl Pelkey designed the Tolkien-inspired, hobbit house in 2014. It’s constructed with stacked stones, concrete, timber and living plants. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
There, nestled between tall evergreen trees, sits a tiny hobbit house awaiting visitors beaming with whimsical beauty. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
The window to the outside takes focus in this little nook, but the real showstopper might just be this chunky tree trunk chair fit for the tiniest of hobbits. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Inside, the house is outfitted with rich wood panels, concrete flooring and a stacked stone wall. This cozy interior makes one think, "Hey! I could live here!" (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Step back outside and follow the cobblestone footpath around to the right of the home where you’ll see the round glass window up close. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Take a trip to see this quaint, tiny home at The Brothers Greenhouses for no charge, and be sure to sign the guestbook and stop for a family photo at this beautiful vine archway. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Plus, according to Pelkey, she met actor Sean Astin in 2018, who played Samwise Gamgee in the "Lord of the Rings" films — and he approved of her Tolkien-inspired hobbit house. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
If you’re feeling a little inspired to create your own fairytale or miniature garden, be sure to head back to the shop and check out the small ceramic fairy homes and garden accessories. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
A circular glass window is positioned opposite the stacked stone wall and lets in lots of natural light. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Up close details really take this tiny house over-the-top. The rooftop garden features a wonderful display of succulents and other organic plant material from the Brothers nursery. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
About half-way through the main greenhouse, look for a little circular sign that says "Hobbit House." (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
The independently-owned and operated garden center serves the Kitsap Peninsula region. And it’s also home to a beautiful hobbit house. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
But the nursery isn’t owned by a couple of brothers. Owners Marilyn Davis and Cheryl Pelkey named their business after “The Brothers,” a pair of prominent peaks in the Olympic National Mountain Range. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Visit the nursery and be greeted by a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, from colorful houseplants and prickly cacti to vibrant succulents, perennials, annuals and pond plants. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Continue to the outside of the sprawling property, through fresh, growing flowers, spritzing water-hoses and to the back corner of the nursery. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Or take home a gnome as a memento from a day well spent visiting one of the most beautiful hobbit homes in Washington. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
Open year-round, The Brothers Greenhouses provide well-cared-for plants, inspirational gardens, and educational opportunities for the local community. And, yes, that is a banana tree plant. (Image:{ }Rachael Jones)
