- Imagine pulling up to a sprawling European mansion overlooking a peaceful valley and flowing river, surrounded by lush orchards, vineyards and rolling hills.
- Imagine walking inside and having a luxurious themed suite ready and waiting for you, with amenities like organic bath products and a jetted tub to enjoy before you drift off to sleep to the sounds of the countryside.
- Now imagine you could experience this without leaving Washington. Doesn’t it sound like a dream?
Located in the tiny town of Touchet, the Cameo Heights Mansion is a European-themed bed and breakfast that is truly a dream come true. Conveniently close to the city of Walla Walla, it’s a perfect place to retreat after a day of shopping and wine tasting.
Owners and proprietors Alan and Deanne Fielding clearly have a knack for incredible service, although they didn’t exactly set out with this in mind. The mansion was originally designed to be a home for their large family. But by the time construction was complete, many of their children were grown, so they decided to make the most of the space.
Each of the seven spacious suites at Cameo Heights has a different European theme, and it’s clear no expense was spared in designing them. The German suite evokes the historic romance of a Bavarian castle, with black marble, rich golds, and a cozy upstairs loft. The lavish Italian suite features a blue-sky ceiling and a veranda view, where you can enjoy a meal in peace. All suites have two-person air jetted tubs and king-size beds.
Although Walla Walla is a mere 18 miles away, you may want to spend your entire stay enjoying the property. Aside from the inviting theater room, which has a fantastic sound system, you can relax by the waterfall pool, soak in the hot tub, roast marshmallows over the fire pit, play ping pong, chess, checkers or bocce ball, or just stroll around and enjoy the amazing views.
For the ultimate relaxation, check out the new onsite spa, where you can schedule a couple’s massage, a perfect pedicure, or a facial. Not only is the spa contracted with some of the best massage therapists in the area, they also have a partnership with Walla Walla’s highly acclaimed Impress Salon in order to expand their treatment options.
And don’t think you have to make the trek into town for food. Not only do Alan and Deanne keep the place well-stocked with snacks, which are free and unlimited when you book a stay, but the onsite restaurant, The Vine, delivers exceptional dinners seven nights a week. The menu rotates seasonally and always has local in-season cuisine, all prepared by Chef Nathan. Here, you can get a seven course dinner for $69 per person, which is quite reasonable, all things considered.
Your breakfast pampering begins as soon as you wake up in the morning. A quiet tap on the door means your fresh coffee and pastries are waiting outside to greet you. This optional complimentary service is in addition to the full breakfast you’ll enjoy at The Vine (or in your room for a small additional fee). Needless to say, Alan and Deanne have thought of absolutely everything to ensure a perfect stay.
The Cameo Heights Mansion is one of Washington’s best kept secrets. All it takes is one stay to realize why so many guests return time and time again.
