Laura Mitchell admits, she's always been fascinated by the royal family.
But, growing up in Vancouver, British Columbia there was one specific royal who caught her eye.
"When I was younger, I was very much obsessed with Prince William when he was a teen. He was like a heartthrob, and there's Bop magazines with him, and I had picture on my wall," said Mitchell.
Now, as fate would have it, she's Prince William's wife, at least on TV.
Laura starts as Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, in Lifetime's "Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance". To prepare for the role she watched interviews, documentaries, anything to gain insight on the duchess.
"I just tried to watch her mannerisms, her life before she became a royal, her upbringing, all that kind of stuff," said Mitchell.
The move tracks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship from the beginning, through all its trials and tribulations.
It's a Lifetime movie, so Laura admits, there may be some embellishments. But the writers did try to base the story on real moments.
"It's a really beautiful love story. I don't generally like movies like this. I'm not really one for sappy movies, but...when I finished the screenplay, I actually cried a little bit," admits Mitchell.
This royal romance has played out in the public eye. Laura says media coverage of the movie started before filming had even wrapped. But, why is there so much fascination with Harry and Meghan?
"It's actually like a fairytale. It's a normal girl, from a normal background becoming a princess. So I think that's why people are so interested in it," said Mitchell.
After getting her own taste of royal life, you better believe Laura will be watching when Prince Harry and Meghan tie the knot.
"For sure. I love that stuff. It's beautiful. I love watching it."
