Let's Go Places: Whitewater rafting on the Skykomish River

What word comes to mind when you hear "whitewater rafting?"

Adventure.

Seattle Refined got the chance to whitewater raft through the Skykomish River, and let us be the first to tell you. There's nothing like the thrill of paddling through rapids, blood pumping as river water splashes your face. Just an hour from Seattle, Alpine Adventures whitewater rafting takes you on a four-hour journey through several rapids (including one class V when the water is high!).

The Alpine Adventures team has your safety at the top of mind during every rafting trip, and the folks at Toyota have a similar outlook with the new RAV4 Adventure series. Safety always comes first.

Second-generation Toyota Safety Sense comes standard on every RAV4. Toyota has fulfilled a goal to make driver safety systems with automatic emergency braking standard on most models, and the 2019 RAV4 debuts with the second generation of the Toyota Safety Sense system. The new platform forms the foundation for excellent collision protection in the 2019 Toyota RAV4, while a suite of standard driver-assist technologies is designed to help prevent collisions, or to mitigate their impacts.

But being a safe vehicle doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 sports a brand-new look, taking a page from the Toyota truck design, with an athletic, chiseled, front-end grille and a more dynamic profile. This is an SUV that really emphasizes the "sport" and "utility" side of things.

The RAV4 Adventure grade, in particular, comes equipped for anything mother nature can throw at it, with a standard Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive with Rear Driveline Disconnect. A more rugged exterior includes high-rise roof rails and larger over-fenders, more aggressive bumper, grille design and fog light surrounds.

The 19-inch split five-spoke wheels with matte-black accents are exclusive to the Adventure grade and wear 235/55R19 tires. The Adventure grade backs up its tough stance with 8.6 inches of ground clearance and rugged functionality for any road. The Adventure grade is also equipped with active grille shutters to help enhance fuel economy.

Even though the 2019 RAV4 looks tough, the ride is smoother and quieter than previous models, with subtle touches of comfort throughout the interior. This means you can arrive at your next adventure relaxed and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.

The starting MSRP for the 2019 RAV4 is $25,500. The RAV4 Adventure (featured in this segment) starts at $32,900. For more information, go to www.buyatoyota.com.
