The holidays are approaching, the decorations are emerging, and the gift lists are making their rounds. What better way to dress up your home or brighten someone's day than with some glass-blown artwork?
At the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio, open since 2006, you can create a piece for yourself or someone else during the Glassblowing Experience, take private lessons or participate in workshops, or even commit to a four-week course. Of course, you can always buy the artwork that's already on display in the all-glass gallery.
While some glass-blown artwork will draw attention in your home, the 2020 Toyota Yaris will turn heads your way while you're on the road.
Safe and smart technology
Every Yaris, available in three different models, is equipped with the standard Active Safety System that includes features that assist with traction, braking, and stability. The Low-Speed PreCollision System also comes standard in every Yaris. This feature scans for potential vehicle collisions at speeds of 18 mph or less, and it will alert the driver of any potential frontal collision. If the driver doesn't respond, the system may automatically apply the brakes.
The smart technology built into the Yaris is designed to keep you safe as well as make your life easier. Control the door locks and the ignition with the available Smart Key System and Push Button Start, which are activated as long as the key fob is nearby. Use your Apple or Android device to hook up to the standard 7-inch touch-screen multimedia system, which you can control with your hands or your voice.
The northwest fall weather is no match for the rain-sensing windshield wipers on the Yaris XLE model. These wipers automatically adjust to the amount of rain and the speed of the car so you can focus more on getting where you're going.
Fuel efficiency and sporty capabilities
The Yaris comes with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission that is capable of up to 32 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, according to EPA estimates.
The six-speed automatic has a sporty bonus for those who choose the XLE model. By pushing the Sport Mode switch, you'll feel a difference in the acceleration, gear shifting, and handling of the vehicle. Pair that with the MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension, and you'll have complete control of the road.
No matter which model you choose, you can feel confident behind the wheel of the Yaris. Available integrated fog lights and LED headlights shine brightly to attract attention and to illuminate the road in front of you, even when the weather isn't ideal. Those headlights toggle on and off automatically so you don't have to worry about draining your battery accidentally.
The Yaris asserts its presence with a honeycomb-style grille in the front, available 16-inch split-spoke alloy wheels, and a dark gunmetal finish. On the XLE model, contoured sport seats, leather-trimmed touches on the steering wheel, shift knob and leatherette seats stand out in an interior elevated by piano-black accents and a chrome finish.
Add the available automatic climate control to keep the vehicle at a perfect temperature, plus heated and power-adjustable mirrors to navigate through foggy skies and icy roads, and you'll soon realize the luxury of driving and riding in the Toyota Yaris.
As you leave the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio, don't forget about the standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seats. They'll allow you to take home plenty of glass-blown artwork or anything else you decide to put in the trunk.
The 2020 Toyota Yaris starts at $15,650 MSRP.
