Critics are buzzing about six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close's performance in 'The Wife'.
The film explores the story of a woman who compromises her own ambition to be the wife of a well-known writer, but when he wins a Nobel Prize for literature it unearths long simmering feelings of bitterness and betrayal.
The brilliant Close has always lived in the shadow of Meryl Streep as the actress of her generation, 'The Wife' just might be her moment to snag Oscar gold.
The Wife is Rated R.
Also opening Friday, the revenge-thriller "Peppermint" starring Jennifer Garner. The film is about a woman who becomes a vigilante for justice when her family is brutally murdered.
I've loved Garner since her days on "Alias" - and she says it feels good to be kicking butt on the big screen again. In my opinion Garner is one of Hollywood's most under-appreciated actresses, and she's reason enough for me to check out "Peppermint".
It's rated R.
Also arriving in theaters tomorrow, "The Nun". The film takes places in Romania where a team from the Vatican arrives to investigate the apparent suicide of a young nun. There they discover an unholy secret, in the form of a demonic nun. Yikes.
"The Nun" definitely doesn't look like my cup of tea - but it might be yours. So, no judgement.
"The Nun" is Rated R.
