Craving a beach vacation? You don't have to go far

What if we told you just minutes from downtown Seattle there's a sandy beach with a boardwalk, waterfront restaurants, and activities for the whole family to enjoy? You don't have to hop a plane to get the feeling of joy a day at the beach brings; the perfect beach day is waiting for you in Seattle Southside, just a quick drive from the city!

Head down to Redondo Beach, located about 30 minutes south of downtown Seattle. The long stretch of sandy beach, pier, and boardwalk will have you thinking you drove to southern California. After wandering the boardwalk and taking in the waterfront scenery, hop on a paddleboard or kayak from Olympic Outdoor Center to get up close and personal with Puget Sound. All of their rentals include basic instruction from knowledgeable staff, guidance through the area, and conditions and of course, proper safety equipment.

After an hour (or a few hours) paddling on the water, your appetite is bound to spark, and there's nothing more fitting than Wally's Chowderhouse to satiate that hunger. Located just a couple of blocks from the waterfront, at Wally's you can fill up on chowder, fish tacos, burgers, and a variety of menu options, including homemade desserts. Their food is guaranteed to keep you fueled on your beach day adventure.

If you need a break from the sun during the late afternoon, Waterland Arcade is the perfect spot to cool off and take a trip down video game memory lane. With more than 40 games, including pinball, Pacman (and Ms. & Baby Pacman!), Big Buck World, air hockey and foosball, it's easy to spend hours bouncing from game to game. You can also quench your thirst while sampling some of the Pacific Northwest's local craft beers at the Sand Bar located in the arcade. Waterland features a more than a dozen varieties, along with ciders and non-alcoholic beverages.

Finish off your fun-filled day with a delicious Italian dinner from Via Marina. Wood-fired pizza, pasta, meatballs, and marsala, whatever you're craving, Via Marina has it. Finish up your meal with a slice of homemade cheesecake with a biscotti crust or share a Nutella calzone with your dining companions.

Sun, sand, food and fun, your epic beach day is waiting in Seattle Southside.
