Sneakerheads, rejoice! Nordstrom and Nike have teamed up to bring you an exclusive shop located inside their flagship downtown Seattle store.
"It's really about providing the girl with the ultimate sneaker boutique dedicated and focused around women," says Olivia Kim, VP of Creative Projects at Nordstrom. "It's a place where sneakers are really incorporated from a high fashion standpoint, and I think Nike is in a really great position in terms of coming up with innovation technology and incorporating fashion and style."
Some of you may be a little nervous at trying to mix sneakers with chic separates - but there's no judgment and nothing serious about this space within Nordstrom, decorated with plastic bubbles to celebrate thirty years of Nike's iconic Air Max sneaker (including a display of the hottest "Airs" from the past).
"They're valuable," said Kim. "They're collectible - and hard to find."
There's even a new AirMax, that lends a nod to the shoe's original design. It's called the VaporMax, and according to Kim people actually line up for these sneaks as early as 4 a.m.
"They're showstoppers," said Kim, saying people claim it's like 'walking on clouds.'
There's also a show stopper from another era, featuring Farrah Fawcett. We all remember that iconic image of Farrah Fawcett on the skateboard, right? Well she's wearing a pair of Nike Cortez. And much like Fawcett herself, the design is iconic.
"The Cortez is really exciting because it's going to be celebrating it's 45th anniversary as well," says Kim.
One thing is for sure - being a sneakerhead is always in style.
"I think typically people assume that sneakerheads are guys, but what we're done is really create and elevate a sneakerhead for women experience," says Kim.
Visit this special boutique through April 10th, and stay tuned for the next installation at the Nordstom x Nike concept shop.
