Home maintenance? There's a checklist for that

Being a homeowner can be exhausting for many reasons, one of the main being regular maintenance. If, like most people, you have kids, jobs, social activities, family obligations, etc., it can be hard to make sure your home gets the attention it needs.

Enter's new Home Maintenance Calendar. Porch is a Seattle-based home improvement network for homeowners and professionals alike, whose goal is to help people make smarter improvement decisions.

"Our homes are a source of joy but also a constant source of work and effort," said Porch's Editor-In-Chief Anne Reagan. "Breaking down prevention and maintenance tasks month-by-month, and doing the right jobs at the right time, will help homeowners and renters stay on top of that long list of chores."

Porch's checklist will include landscaping, interior and exterior projects, and be targeted specifically towards where you live. For example, Seattle's March checklist includes tips like:

  • The last sprint frost date in Seattle is March 10. After that, there is only a 50% probability of frost.

  • There are multiple crops that do well if you plant them in mid to late March, including: beans, celery, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, melons, and peppers.

  • Seattle Tilth is having a March garden sale.

These checklists come out at the beginning of every month, and are printable.
