Halloween has quickly passed and while there is still plenty of candy lingering in its wake, my thoughts have turned to Thanksgiving. The stores may already be decorated for Christmas but it would be a crime to skip over Thanksgiving decorations at this time of year. From cornucopias to pumpkin centerpieces and fall wreaths, this is the season to show your gratitude through lively Thanksgiving decor, some of which is easily recycled from the Halloween season.
Here are some seriously fantastic tips to up your home decor this season
Festive Mantle Decorations
Start by changing out your usual mantle decorations for a fun Thanksgiving banner and a pile of pumpkins. Snag a colorful one from Target or make your own following A Thoughtful Place’s brown lunch bag banner tutorial. Paint letters on your Halloween pumpkins for a delightful message of thanks. A Diamond in the Stuff has a delightful post on painting letters on pumpkins (or your favorite seasonal gourd).
Front Door Decorations
Fall wreaths are a wonderful way to display your love for the season but you can’t go wrong with oversized wooden tags, asking people to Give Thanks!
For the more traditional route, Sur La Table has a variety of wreaths but my favorite has to be their Pumpkin Wreath can’t be beat! For true inspiration, check out Amy Lou Hawthorne’s porch stuffed full of pumpkin-y goodness.
Thanksgiving Centerpieces and Table Decorations
Thanksgiving isn’t thanksgiving without some fantastic table decorations. For an easy project that might enable some Halloween decoration recycling, grab some small pumpkins and get to work. Dip your pumpkins in gold glitter glue for a glittery touch and tie a place card around the stem with twine rope for a delightful table setting. 724 South House features an amazing DIY centerpiece for your table which will dazzle your guests. For an easy and festive Thanksgiving centerpiece, stack pumpkins and dried corn in a wooden serving platter.
Add a touch of autumnal flair to your table with a Cornucopia from Nordstrom. This traditional piece with jackfruit leaves and earthy pinecones will be the perfect accompaniment to your holiday table. To keep little guests entertained and your table festive, add some coloring placemats from Amazon for table fun.
