9 rustic Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas

This Thanksgiving, think rustic when it comes to creating your centerpiece. There are wonderful elements to be found around your home--including in the recycling bin, around the back yard and even in your fridge!

Bottle It Up: Glass elements can take your table from blah to beautiful. Check the recycling bin for bottles with unique shapes. Add some paint and place fall branches inside them like Lori Greco Design did to celebrate the colors of the season.

A"mason" Jars: Up-cycle old mason jars using Rit Dye and transform them from clear into gorgeous autumn hues, like these from Debbiedoo's.

Bring the Outdoors Inside: The outdoors can be a great source of inspiration. Gather some pretty leaves like An Extraordinary Day to make a table runner.

Pick Up Pinecones: Pinecones make a wonderful filler for a Thanksgiving centerpiece. A Knick of Time combined small pumpkins, as well as pinecones and green foliage to make a fetching display.

Get Corny: You might already have some Indian corn that you're using for fall decorating. Love of Home placed a few ears with eucalyptus in a wooden bowl to make a lovely nature themed focal point.

The Shell Game: Remember summer days at the beach? Those seashells you saved are perfect for holding small candles. Spray paint the shells gold and rest them on a piece of driftwood for a coastal feel like this Gold Thanksgiving Centerpiece.

Skip the Linen Closet: Table covers don't have to be cloth. Steal this idea from Everyday Home. She chose to use brown kraft paper for a table covering, so her guests could jot down and share what they're thankful for.

Visit the Garage: Do you have any scrap wood in your garage? A stained board like this one from Silly Pearl with a smattering of brightly painted leaves makes a strong graphic statement.

Raid the Fridge: For a unique look, shop your refrigerator like Redhead Can Decorate. She made a stunning display with green beans and cranberries.
