I've heard rumors that swimming in Lake Union has an unspoken ~swim at your own risk~ kind of rule associated with it, but what if you want to still be on the water? And let's be honest, not all of us are lucky enough to have a boat.
But, as long as you have a couple friends/family willing to chip in - you don't need a boat. BECAUSE YOU HAVE A HOT TUB.
That's right folks. You may have heard rumblings about services that rent out floating hot tub boats, but we've had a hard time pinning any legitimate ones down. After several weeks of emails, tweets, phone calls, and general stalking - we were finally able to get ahold of the good folks at Floating Hot Tub (great name, btw).
Floating Hot Tub was started by a group of people who wanted to figure out how to make boating an all-year-round thing. They came up with the initial design on a napkin (very J.K. Rowling of them) and viola! A hot tub that floats on the lake was born.
The contraption is assembled with nine flotation barrels, lumber, and other sturdy materials. Then they add an outboard engine to drive the tub around, complete with a tiller extension to navigate. It also has a generator on board to power the tub, pump, heater, cafe lights, and an LED rope lighting around the perimeter. It also has safety equipment (as required by the Coast Guard) just to make sure you're safe AND sound.
Dare we say - Floating Hot Tubs are the perfect vessel for a night out, sightseeing, and a "tub crawl"?! Grab some friends, beers, and enjoy your floating hot tub experience!
