This 6-year-old dog whisperer will melt your heart

Roman McConn of Skagit Valley is like most 6-year-olds; obsessed with Batman, has loads of energy and loves to play soccer.

But there's something very special about Roman that has a lot of people taking notice. Roman already has a strong passion to help rescued animals find forever homes.

A man after our own hearts!

"I think he was pretty much born loving pets. He quickly figured out there were a lot of dogs who didn't have homes and he always wanted to help," said Jen McConn, Roman's mom. "He even asked for donations instead of presents for his 4th birthday."

Roman and his mom recently moved to Skagit Valley from Texas while his dad, who serves in the military, is being stationed in Japan. Now, Roman basically lives at the Humane Society of Skagit Valley and spends time with rescued animals. He also makes social media videos about the animals that need homes and the videos have gone viral including one about a deaf dog named Legend.

The video worked and now Legend is living the good life with a family Colorado.

But there's so much more work to be done. That's why Roman and his mom started of Project Freedom Ride, an organization to transport dogs from kill shelters to safe havens.

"When I moved up here it was a running joke that I should start an underground railroad and bring the dogs up because the world here for dogs is so much different than Texas," said McConn. "People take them hiking and there's stuff to do."

As for Roman, he now has a huge fan base online and overseas especially his dad in Japan.

"Roman's dad is super proud," McConn beams. "That's his boy."

Well, we are proud of you too Roman and we can't wait to see what you do next!
