Welcome to the Weekend Report - where we tell you what's up in Seattle this weekend, the things you definitely don't want to miss. Why should we have all the fun at these events? Most of the things we are previewing here, we will be at - so if you see us say hi! We're guaranteed to miss some, so definitely email us if there is something wonderful we need to know about!

Friday, March 1

Sewing and Stitchery Expo. For the 35th time in a row, sewing enthusiasts from all around the world are flocking to Puyallup for this year's Sewing and Stitchery Expo. There will be classes, teachers, and vendors for everyone to enjoy. There will even be special events such as Friday Night Live and Quilters' Night Out for an extra dose of entertainment.

Pig Day Out. Have you ever heard of Porcine Nexus? Neither have we -- until now! Porcine Nexus is when National Pig Day and the Year of the Pig coincide, which is exactly what is happening today! Pig Day Out invites you to come celebrate this rare alignment with various treats and events. From Pig Day Specials (at Succulent Catering, Pasta Castalinga, and more) to live entertainment (nothing like a good ol' pig race), you won't have time to be bored.

Destination Delridge. To celebrate their community work, Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association is putting on an exciting event and they invite all to join in on the fun. Experience food, drink, live entertainment, music, are, and even interactive games, all while interactive with the event's 200+ guests. It's also important to note that all of the event's proceeds benefit the Delridge community.

Poverty Bay Wine Festival. Winemakers from over 20 of Washington's wineries will be at this year's Poverty Bay Wine Festival over in Des Moines to share wines of all varieties! With this being the biggest wine tasting event, a wine shop will be available just in case you especially enjoy any of the wines in the line-up. Even more, the revenue from this event will be used to fund the the Rotary Club of Des Moines' charitable activities!

Curiosity Days: Climate Change. What better way to have fun than to learn while having fun? The Pacific Science Center will be filling this weekend with science via hands-on activities led by experts, and it's all about Climate Change! The University of Washington will be putting their expertise in with research and top scientists.

The Seattle Home Show. This event isn't called the "75th anniversary housing extravaganza" for nothing. At the Seattle Home Show, there will be Home and Garden products, seminars, cooking demos, and live music. Get some serious home inspo from materials to living green, landscape displays, home decorating arts & crafts, and so much more.

Nordic Lights Film Festival. Yet another film festival for the Seattle community to enjoy, and this time you can enjoy Nordic cinema with Nordic Lights Film Festival! Start the night off with drama/thrilled Woman at War by Benedikt Erlingsson, and enjoy more films all throughout the weekend. You can either purchase festival pass for the entire weekend, or you can purchase individual tickets to specific showings.

Eran Raven. "Something Magical With Eran Raven" is the title of this event and if that didn't pique your interest, I don't know what will. Eran Raven is giving The Mentalist a run for his money, as he will be on stage reading minds and influencing thoughts. If your a skeptic, this might just be exactly what you need! Tickets vary from $25 - $200.

Washington Beer Open House. The ninth annual Washington Beer Open House will be under way this weekend, and a number of breweries are opening their doors for invitation. Enjoy beer tastings, brewery tours, behind-the-scenes sneak peaks at cellar tanks, and more in this event that involves the entire state! Breweries all across the state are participating, from towns such as Woodinville, Yakima, our beautiful city Seattle, and so much more!

Lunar New Year Celebration. Here is yet another way to celebrate the Year of the Boar/Pig, and this time Chinatown-International District is taking the spotlight. This celebration will include traditional dance, Japanese Taiko Drumming, martial arts, and other cultural performances to enrich the diversity of this event. Aside from that, there will be contests and live performances for further enjoyment.

WhiskeyRocks NW. If there is ever a reason to drink in public, it's this event. WhiskeyRocks NW is where you'll be able to sample over 100 Whiskey and bourbons and also purchase our favorites before you leave. All of the proceeds from the store will be benefiting USO Northwest. VIP tickets include a $15 gift card to be used at any of the concession stands and free parking.

Mardi Gras Masquerade Party Cruise. If you can't make it to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year, don't stress about it. Seattle Miniature Show. "Where the Little Things Mean Everything." That's what the Seattle Miniature Show is all about. There will be exhibits by both young and adult, not to mention you can get yourself miniaturized and, if you like it, you can purchase it to add to your collection! There will be merch dealers, exhibits upon exhibits, workshops, and much more!

Penn Cove MusselFest. Penn Cove Mussels are famous all around the world, and what better way to celebrate that than with the Penn Cover MusselFest? On top of that, you can get hot mussel chowder straight from Pen Cove Shellfish and hang out in the Water front Beer Garden, all while listening to great live music.
