The 5 best comedy haunts in Seattle

Fancy yourself a chortle, a chuckle... or daresay... a guffaw? Yuk it up y'all, you'll get all of that and more at the following five comedy clubs in Seattle. Whether you're looking for a giggle or two or to hit the stage to test your latest material, you'll find open ears and a whole lot of jokes with the help of this list.

Jet City Improv
Located at the far end of the ave, where the U-District meets Ravenna, you can't miss Jet City's bright yellow front. You have to check out Twisted Flicks, which is a RiffTrax-esque show that involves removing the audio fro old B-rate films and supplementing with riotous commentary. Jet City features a full bar and a lot of the shows encourage audience participation, so make a night of it!

Unexpected Productions Improv
Located in Post Alley (aka the most Seattle-y place of all time), this comedy mecca in the heart of Pike Place Market is an excellent date night. If you're looking for comic relief, look no further than Theatresports, Seattle's longest running comedy show. On Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30pm, you can take in a live improv show sure to leave you in sidesplitting laughter. The added perk of this spot is that at the end of the night, you can talk a brisk midnight walk to one of several nearby bars for a nightcap.

The Comedy Underground
Fiending for some good ol’ fashioned stand up? Open since 1981, the club features a full bar and Tex-Mex inspired menu. The comedy underground in Pioneer Square opens at 7 and is open through 12:30. Loads of now uber famous comedians belong to Comedy Underground’s performance alumni, including Louis CK, Seinfeld and more.. For a look at their comedy calendar, click here.

Comedy Nest
If a comedy nest doesn't sound like a place you want to cozy up, then who are you? Formerly called the decidedly more fetal Comedy Womb, Comedy Nest is a female focused (but not exclusive) club that can be found in the Grotto of the Rendezvous in Belltown. If you've never tried your hand at stand-up before, but have the itch, this is the place to do it.

Love sports? Love to LOL? Good. ComedySportz is your people. The shows here tend to pack out, so get there early. Hosted at the Atlas Theater in Fremont, ComedySportz is the perfect place to dip your toes in the funny water. Give the pros a prompt and get ready to ROFL, a better time won’t be had in the neighborhood.
