This may be one of the most incredible events to ever come to Seattle.
On Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 three champion sumo wrestlers are coming to WaMu theater for Sumo + Sushi, an event where ticket buyers watch the 1500-year-old Japanese sport complete with sushi and Japanese bevvies.
There will be two shows on Saturday, one at 5 p.m. and another at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday the shows are at 1p.m. and 5p.m. Sumo + Sushi will feature live sumo wrestling matches, Japanese cuisines from Shiro's Sushi and I Love Sushi, sake, Japanese beer and cocktails, sumo education, and a Q&A with the wrestlers between matches.
Here's the participating wrestlers:
- Byamba (Mongolia) – winner of Pro Sumo Division Title, four-time World Sumo Champion, weighing in at 380 pounds.
- Roy (U.S.) – four-time U.S. Sumo Champion, number three in the world (2016), weighing in at 380 pounds and 6'6" tall.
- Ramy (Egypt) – multi-time African Sumo Champion and U.S. Sumo Open Champion, weighing in at 500 pounds.
