Streaming Seattle: What to do [online] this weekend

This weekend is going to be full of sunshine and online events. We know you want to get outside (just keep your distance), but if you’re feeling lowkey or want to get involved with your community from afar, tune in to these creative online events put on by some PNW favorites:

Behind the Seams: Zoom In on the Details

Being stuck in sweats all day doesn't mean you need to avoid fashion entirely. This Friday, fashion lovers, history buffs and everyone in between can get an up-close look at the Museum of History & Industry's textile collection with Behind the Seams: Zoom In on the Details.

Take a (virtual) trip to the MOHAI's vaults with the curator of collections, Clara Berg, in this free webinar. She'll share her favorite details, and give viewers unique insights into the pieces. You need to register ahead of time, so get on it!

The Great Burien Baking Challenge

If you're a fan of The Great British Baking Show, this close-to-home version may be your cup of tea. Every week, The Great Burien Baking Challenge hosts a weekly virtual bake-off complete with a different theme, a judge and a triumphant "Star Baker."

The challenge runs Saturday through Wednesday, with judging taking place on Thursday and a winner crowned on Friday. To qualify for "Star Baker," you'll need to submit one image of the baked good with the baker and one without, the recipe and a short story describing the baked good. Goodies are judged on visual appeal and creativity, so get baking!

Translations: Seattle Transgender Online Film Festival

Translations: Seattle Transgender Film Festival has been a groundbreaking pillar in Seattle's festival scene for 15 years, but 2020 marks a move online in partnership with Northwest Film Forum.

Starting Thursday, dive into films about, by and for transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people and learn about issues facing the community. The lineup includes documentaries, web series, shorts, conversations and more.

Work From Home Seattle

Thanks to Seattle's creative music scene, there's no shortage of online concerts to indulge in. This week, The Work From Home livestream presents Jesse Gallaway, Bodies on the Beach and Claire Conway. Whether you're familiar with the performers or not, this is a great excuse for a dance party in your living room and a way to expose yourself to new talent!

Improv Happy Hour

Happy hour feeling lonely lately? Laugh along at Improv Happy Hour with Unexpected Productions as they get creative by giving classic comedy games an online twist. The hour is full of unpredictable entertainment, so leave your expectations at the login page and get ready to laugh. This week's theme is "couples" — perfect for date night!

Next Weekend

There are two things we think you should check out, but you'll need to buy tickets ahead of time. So, get a head start on next weekend's plans by signing up for these streaming events:
