Affordable Green Lake course offers 'No Contact Golf'

Any golfer will tell you, the sport is as difficult as it is rewarding — but there may not be an easier place in Seattle to find your perfect swing than Green Lake Golf Course. The nine-hole "pitch 'n putt" offers an approachable and affordable golf experience to players of all skill levels.

"This is like the next step between Putt-Putt or mini-golf and executive golf," said Dione Taitch. "All of our holes are under 100 yards except one that's 115. So you just need an iron and a putter. Anybody can do it!"

Taitch's family has been running this Seattle institution since the 1980s and said not much has changed under their stewardship. It's outdoor fun at a price that won't break the bank.

Green fees run between $10 and $12, depending on if you need clubs and golf balls or not.

"That's nine holes," said Taitch. "And weekdays we have a special where it's half-price for your additional rounds. It's inexpensive fun."

It takes about an hour to play a nine-hole round, and the course is usually less busy on rainy days. Tee times are required, but the atmosphere is casual — a perfect place to relax and maybe find that perfect shot.

"We've kinda been a fixture here for a while, and people really seem to appreciate what we're doing," Taitch said.

Green Lake Golf Course is currently practicing "No Contact Golf." They're asking players not to touch flag pins or cups, keep their distance from other golfers and said rental clubs are disinfected after every use. To find out more about Green Lake Golf Course, click here.
