Homeless dogs arrive in Seattle on rescue flight from Costa Rica

Our RUFFined to the Rescue partners, Saving Great Animals just came back from their largest rescue mission in Costa Rica, arriving at SeaTac this afternoon (May 10, 2018) with a haul of ten dogs. We were so excited to join them in welcoming the pups to the city that will hopefully be their forever home.

About four months ago, SGA was invited to visit a remote village in Costa Rica to help 32 dogs in need of medical care. Upon their arrival, the rescue mission realized just how dire the situation was.

These dogs had had no access to medical care or food. Many of them were suffering from severe skin conditions, tumors, and other illnesses from their treacherous lifestyle.

With a lot of effort, local vet work, fundraising and an incredible donor to help fly the dogs to Seattle, SGA has almost finished bringing over all 32 dogs. Today was the fourth flight with the largest amount of dogs on board, 10 pups in total. The final flight carrying the last four dogs will come over on Saturday, May 12.

While they've been through the ringer, these dogs are on the road to recovery with Saving Great Animals. Five have already been adopted, and the others are spending time adapting to their foster homes. Once cleared by vets, the Costa Rican dogs should be available for adoption in the next couple weeks.

For updates on their health and how they're doing, follow SGA on Facebook. And if you're interested in giving one (or more!) of them a forever home, head online.

Can't adopt dogs, but still want to help Saving Great Animals do amazing work? Their annual benefit is coming up! The Bark Benefit is going to be Saturday, June 9th at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, WA. Tickets are on sale now for the silent auction, dinner, drinks and more...all benefitting the great work of the rescue org. Join us - you KNOW we'll be there!
