It's no secret healthcare professionals are heroes — an especially poignant fact during this pandemic. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, Ciara and Amazon Home have come together to give back to one "extraordinary" local nurse, Marc Sellier, in honor of him and others in the industry who have gone above and beyond this year.
Sellier has worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Seattle Children's Hospital for nearly two decades.
"Working nights, Marc is the epitome of a team player, always picking up the least desirable shifts and helping both his colleagues and his patients any way he can," a press release stated. "Marc has been highly commended by supervisors and coworkers alike over the past few months, as he's worked tirelessly to help rehabilitate COVID-19 patients."
This home makeover is part of Amazon's Hometown Heroes project, which aims to give back to and celebrate "everyday heroes." Sellier, his wife, Mona, and their two children had to leave their home for months in January because of water damage, just before the coronavirus pandemic hit Seattle.
Amazon Home completed a small renovation on their house and also provided them with new furniture and decor — working with local interior designer Sara Eizen for this project. Marc and Mona saw their home for the first time on Tuesday, with Ciara performing the reveal herself.
To further honor healthcare workers, Amazon Home will also be making donations to the Seattle Children's nonprofit Why Not You Foundation, which was founded by the Wilsons.
Keep an eye out for our interview with Sellier coming soon.
