Party with a purpose – THEORY shindig supports science in the city

You might have already heard that THEORY: Festival 2017 promises to be one of the hottest events of the summer. What you might not know is that buying a ticket supports so many impactful initiatives in the Seattle community. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect at the party and what your support can do for our city.

The Party

THEORY: Festival 2017 will run from 7p.m. throughout midnight on July 28th at the Pacific Science Center. KEXP DJs will lay down tracks on four levels of dance floors, and one level will feature a Silent Disco.

Enjoy an open bar featuring local microbrews and spirits crafted by Heritage Distilling Co. while snacking snack on mouthwatering morsels from local restaurants. Sing laser karaoke, watch daring science demonstrations and explore the famed Terracotta Warriors exhibit.

No matter how you spend the night, THEORY: Festival presents a chance to party like you’ve never partied before!

The Purpose

When you buy a ticket to THEORY: Festival 2017, your ticket helps ignite curiosity in children all over Washington state and helps fuel a passion for discovery, critical thinking, and experimentation in everyone. Because the proceeds from the event support the Pacific Science Center, they support programs like:

Camps for Curious Minds Scholarship Program

Camps for Curious Minds at the Pacific Science Center instruct Pre-K through eighth grade students in designing robotic machines, analyzing DNA evidence and investigating insects in the wild. Unfortunately, many curious young scientists are unable to attend due to financial hardship. Because people like you buy tickets to events like THEORY: Festival, this summer the Center has the means to award 80 scholarships to some of the most vulnerable kids in our community.

Science on Wheels

The Science on Wheels program brings interactive workshops, live stage shows and portable exhibits to over 300 schools each year and visits fairs, festivals and other community events. The program also delivers workshops at no cost to young students in underserved communities. Presenting everywhere from housing developments to Boys and Girls Clubs, Science On Wheels educators deliver once-in-a-lifetime learning experiences to children who would otherwise not receive this opportunity.

Expanding Access

The Family Access Membership program allows families that receive public assistance to enjoy a year-long membership for only $19. So far, over 2,500 families and more than 6,700 children have participated. Through the new Youth Access Membership program, foster youth and foster families as well as youth experiencing homelessness can get a Family Level Membership free of charge. Since its launch in November of 2016, more than 400 memberships have been activated through this new program.

If you want to get down for a great cause, THEORY: Festival is a spectacular choice.
