New Year's Resolutions from Seattle's Movers and Shakers

2017 is finally here, and you’ve got the chance to start the year off on the right foot with a resolution that makes your life better. You’re not alone, though. We checked in with some of Seattle’s movers and shakers to find out how they’ll be upping the ante in 2017 – and they’re not all just working out and eating more greens. Check out their New Year’s Resolutions below.

“Be healthy. Lose weight. And campaign hard!”

- Mayor Edward Murray

“I’ve committed to doing a random act of kindness every day. Doesn’t have to be huge, but just something unexpected and kind for friends, family, or complete strangers. 365 of them.”

- KOMO Morning Anchor Kelly Koopmans

“I have three resolutions – I want to read at least two books a month, work my flexibility to do my left and right splits again, and volunteer more in the communities I visit on tour.”

- Sarah Marie Charles, ensemble member of Finding Neverland, at the Paramount starting January 10th

“My New Year’s Resolution is to get more into my craft as an actor, so by the end of 2017 I am going to watch every movie on the AFI Top 100 films! I’ll watch the direction and choices from the actors, listen to the scores, and learn about the writers involved.”

- Calvin Cooper, Ensemble member of Finding Neverland, at the Paramount starting January 10th

“My New Year’s resolution is to try and find more time to spend with my husband, family, and friends!”

- Beverly Yanez, Seattle Reign

“At some point this year, I would like to get involved with charity-based work, particularly that involves children or mental health.”

- Rachel Corsie, Seattle Reign

“My New Year’s resolution for this coming year will be to travel and see as much of the state of Washington, the U.S. and the world as I can!”

-Elli Reed, Seattle Reign

“This year I want to try and travel the world, rescue a Pitbull, start my own non-profit – oh, and floss more.”

- Lauren Barnes, Seattle Reign

“My New Year’s Resolution is to compliment someone every day. No matter how big or small the compliment is, I want someone to smile because of me each day.”

- Carson Pickett, Seattle Reign
