Seattle is being invaded! And no, not by aliens - but by a group just as peculiar - millennials.
According to a survey done by Mayflower, Seattle ranks at the number four spot out of the Top 10 Most Moved to Cities by Millennials. With data collected from participants aging from 18-35, here are the list of the Top 10 cities millenials moved to in 2015:
- Dallas, TX
- Chicago, IL
- Denver, CO
- Seattle, WA
- Atlanta, GA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Portland, OR
- Charlotte, NC
- Washington DC
- Phoenix (Scottsdale)
And here are some of the more interesting reasons why millennials are moving:
- Love: Nearly half (46 percent) of 18 to 35-year-olds have moved to a new city, state or country to be with or find a romantic partner.
- The City Life: Nearly 57 percent of millennials say that they want to live in a big city or an inner suburb near the city.
- Food: More than half of respondents (56 percent) said that good restaurants are a must have.
- Millennials are Transient: One-third of Millennials have moved three or more times in their life. One in five has moved more than four times.
Everyone prepare yourselves! It's only going to get more crazy. And I'm telling you this as a millennial and Seattle transplant myself.
