Mack, Mack, Mack. Why are your videos SO GREAT. The rapper announced he's adding a Seattle tour date (thank goodness) to his fall Gemini tour. (Image: @macklemore /

Shawn Kemp joins Macklemore in new video announcing Seattle tour date

If you're a local Macklemore fan, you probably went through the same thing I did when the Seattle rapper announced his Gemini tour earlier this summer.

  1. Eagerly scan the list of cities he's playing.
  2. Eagerly scan again.
  3. Look again.
  4. Shake head.
  5. Look again.

Because Seattle - his hometown - was NOT on the list, which is shocking considering he is always incorporating the Pacific Northwest into his music, brand, social media - heck, he still lives on Capitol Hill!

So we knew it was only a matter of time before he announced the added date, and the excitement grew as to WHEN it would be, and HOW it would be announced. Because, after all, it's Macklemore. He does announcements well.

We were expecting a video announcement, the Mack is a big fan of those. We were even expecting a celebrity appearance, as he's done that before.

We were not expecting him to play Shawn Kemp in a one-on-one basketball game. But, that happened.

The idea was that if Macklemore won the game, he'd play Key Arena, and if Kemp won he'd get the rapper's car. Well - it was looking like Kemp was going to win, and then Mack quickly changed the rules of the game (which we're fine with), because it means he's playing Key Arena on December 22, 2017.
