Lizzo treats UW Medicine ER staff to lunch

As if we needed one more reason to love Lizzo.

According to a tweet by UW Medicine, the award-winning singer/songwriter/rapper/flautist sent staff at the Montlake UW Medical Center Emergency Department lunch today (March 30).

"Thank you @Lizzo for sending lunches to the UW Medical Center - Montlake Emergency Department today!" reads the tweet. "Your support of our frontline healthcare workers means a lot."

Lizzo, in an Instagram Live video posted to her account March 30, explained that she and her team worked with multiple hospitals in the country to provide lunch for healthcare workers today.

"I just wanted to do it! I mean Lizzo be eating, so I wanted our nurses and doctors to be eating too," she said in her video. "And we had some really specific precautions that we took, we made sure they are all individually packaged, we made sure that they came from local delis and it wasn’t through [...] any type of courier, it was hand-to-hand, everyone was wearing gloves, super clean, super specific entrances and exits, we had vegetarian meals."

The singer had the idea after sending a friend's mother, who is a nurse, a care package - "I just wanted to tell her how much I appreciate her." The response was so good, that Lizzo wanted to expand.

"I was like, you know what? I wish I could do this for every nurse," she said on Instagram. "How can I do this for more people who are working so hard to keep all of us safe."

We've reached out to UW Medicine to get more information on this amazing partnership, including but not limited to - what was for lunch?! Please hold for more information [hopefully] coming shortly.

"It's really exciting to be able to feel like I'm doing a little to bring a smile to these people’s faces who’ve been working so hard," said Lizzo in the Instagram Live.

This Truth doesn't Hurt one bit. In fact, it feels Good As Hell.
