Audiobook junkie here.
I constantly have one queued up: while I run, while I do the dishes, while I drive, while I fold laundry, while I rock my youngest to sleep. Audiobooks are a lovely way to multi-task the essentials of life and enjoyable things like a good story or interesting piece of nonfiction.
I use all the audiobook services - Libby (the free library service), Audible (Amazon’s subscription service), Scribd (another subscription option), and most recently, Chirp.
And that’s why I’m here today, to shout from the rooftops (or should I say “into your earbuds”?) that Chirp is the latest and greatest audiobook provider.
Chirp stands out for a number of reasons, my favorites being the absolutely amazing deals on topnotch books. I’ve already snagged a few - some as low as 99 cents - and just started listening to Diney Costeloe’s "The Girl With No Name" which was just $2.99. It has over 5,300 five-star reviews on Goodreads so I knew it was a book worth purchasing.
As much as I love borrowing audiobooks from the library, I’m not always a fan of the wait or the time limit. And, as much as I love Audible’s immense library, a month after month subscription cost adds up. Chirp isn’t perfect, but it is 100% a fabulous audiobook service and I cannot wait to build my library there.
Here’s how to get started with Chirp:
First create a Chirp account online at chirpbooks.com. You can do this on a desktop or on your phone’s internet browser. Next, browse the current deals! You won’t find new releases, but you’ll find a great mix of classics and novels you recognize. You can sort by genre and price to narrow down exactly what might pique your interest most. Add the books you’d like to your cart without delay. Chirp books are available at such low prices because they’re only available for a limited time. On each listing, you’ll see how long is left before the deal expires. Complete your purchase and you’re ready to listen!
You can stream your library of books through your desktop or you can download the Chirp app. Once logged in on the app your library will immediately sync. It’s truly a very streamlined process. Easy and cheap. Does it get better than that? Since discovering Chirp I’ve purchased four books for less than $8. I’m thrilled with the start of my Chirp library! Talk about a steal of a deal!
New books deals arrive daily at Chirp so be sure to sign up for their emails. They’ll alert you to what is new so you can jump on it ASAP. Because, let’s face it, there is one thing most of us appreciate more than “free” and that’s cheap. Or, in this case, Chirp.
