'Micro Weddings': New Ballard event space created just for COVID gatherings

Couples with weddings planned this past year found themselves up against the harsh realities of COVID, making large pre-pandemic weddings a thing of the least for now. Seattle couple Sean and Laura decided to make their wedding "micro" and in doing so, found a solution not only for themselves, but for couples in the same boat. Enter Micro Venue, a new event space in Ballard set up specifically for the pandemic.

“As the wedding industry was attempting to adjust to the new realities of a global pandemic, we noticed that no one was offering the unique solution we needed,” says Laura. “If we could create this solution, it would help us and many others as well. New to the industry, we put our creative backgrounds together and started planning. A few months later, we were getting married in our own venue.”

This beautiful customizable space is perfect for intimate weddings and elopements with the venue taking care of all the details. Specializing in all-inclusive packages for couples to help make their day effortless, options include venue, floral, cake, champagne, photographer, officiant, charcuterie board, coordination & up to eight guests.

Because Laura and Sean have experienced first-hand what it feels like to continually change their plans because of the pandemic, they run their business with a unique compassion for the couples that come through the space, understanding the emotional toll it can take. Taking an unfortunate and stressful situation, and turning it into a beautiful and memorable experience, while keeping everyone safe and worry-free.

“When it comes to the details of the ceremony, there have been so many creative solutions to aide in the safety of these weddings, and adding to the unique experience,” Laura said.

“Off-site first looks, friends and family officiants/vendors, charcuterie to-go, online streaming, and definitely many more improvisations to come," she said. "Everything that goes into the special day is done with masks, social distancing, and sanitization. These unique combinations allow for the safest version of a wedding, intimate and efficient, without sacrificing the special details.”

But weddings aren’t the only event going down in Micro Venue. From styled shoots for families and photographers, studio time, and most recently, Picnic Party Seattle will be using the space to host intimate picnics for Valentine’s Day!

So, if you find yourself in need for a safe and small event space for a wedding, celebration, or just to switch things up, Micro Venue has you covered. Sean and Laura love coming up with creative solutions to their client’s needs, whatever they may consist of!
