Documenting Love: Braden & Stacy's Story

Note from Seattle Refined: We could not be more excited that photographer/blogger/genius Alexandra Celia has joined our team here at Seattle Refined. She has devoted her career to documenting love in its purest and most original form - which you'll see in her photos. Every now and then she will share her work with couples: their love story, their commitment, their passion....and of course, their photos. Think of her as our Love Guru. She loves love, and is here to share it with the rest of us. Next up, the story of Braden & Stacy - living and loving life as an engaged couple in Seattle.

Braden
I had just started a new job in Seattle and was being introduced to the different teams I would be supporting. I distinctly remembering meeting Stacy because of her glowing smile and cheerful/sweet voice. She made me nervous for some reason, but nervous in a good way. I knew I had to know more about her. She would say it was less than 15 minutes after that encounter and I was messaging her on our office chat. I think it was a little longer. We chatted for a little bit before I mustered up the courage to ask her on a date. My nerves got the better of me on our first date but I was relentless in my pursuit. So here we are today, four months from marriage.

Stacy
Braden and I had a modern office romance. We first met when we were both working for the same Seattle startup. One day he was being introduced to some people around the office and came over near my desk. I had noticed him before (pretty sure all the girls there had noticed him) but now was my chance. So I swung around in my chair, reached out my hand and introduced myself. Apparently he noticed me too because ten minutes later he sent me an instant message asking a “work related” question. From there, we chatted for a week or so about non-work related things and then he finally asked me out for a drink. The rest is history.

Braden
She always has a positive outlook on life and is very close to her friends and family. She steps out of her comfort zone on multiple occasions to join me in my pursuit of adventure. I’m proud of the way she lives her life. She is fun-loving, cheerful, positive, big hearted, caring, and my best friend.

Stacy
I am really proud of Braden’s resilience. Moving from Idaho to Seattle hardly knowing anyone and entering into the Seattle workforce can be tough. Along the way he has made great relationships and continues to pursue his dream of working in the outdoor industry (as I type this he is currently backpacking somewhere in the mountains of Colorado for work).

Braden
I knew I really cared for Stacy when she started to invite me to events/activities that involved her close friends. I know how much her friends mean to her so the fact that she brought me into that circle showed me that this girl was proud to include me in her friendships. Seeing how good of a friend Stacy is made it clear that she was a catch.

Stacy
The first time I really was like “okay I think I love this guy” was when I invited Braden to my friend’s wedding reception. This was the first time Braden would really be meeting all my friends so I was a little nervous. Little did I know that he would be the life of the party, he spent the majority of the evening on the dance floor and had everyone in stitches. The next day everyone texted me and told how much they loved Braden. I already knew I loved him but to have all your friends on board too was the icing on the cake.

Braden
One thing that that stands out in this relationship is our understanding and support for one another. We let each other be who we are and we honor our individuality. But at the same time, we are a team and live life as a team. We laugh together, dance together, and just enjoy each other’s company.

Stacy
I have a confidence in our relationship that I have never had before. I just know he is the one. He is my best friend.

Braden
Stacy’s smile and laugh will always stand out. I will never forget the moment I met her because her smile was glowing and left a mark on me. Stacy is kind, gentle, and a lover of kittens and puppies. How could you not like that? All jokes aside, I think Stacy’s big heart, humor, and kindness are traits that can’t be matched.

Stacy
6’4”, blonde hair, blue eyes… what more can a girl ask for? For real though, it’s his silliness and the way he dances around our apartment. He can entertain me for hours.

Braden
Stacy and I usually take a healthy approach to difficult situations. We communicate openly, share our viewpoints, and learn from each lesson. Sometimes it may just take a little alone time to start the conversation.

Stacy
I think we do a pretty good job at listening to each other when times are tough and then doing our best to offer advice. If that doesn’t work we cry it out, cuddle and get froyo.

Braden
Stacy has a daily routine and I enjoy that. I know what the morning looks like and I know what the evening looks like. The day starts with coffee, shower, NPR, and breakfast and ends with her workout, dinner, a TV show and the occasional nail painting. I appreciate the routine and it simplifies life. She isn’t a complicated woman and I find that very attractive.

Stacy
He washes my egg pan I use every morning, takes out the garbage and makes sure to turn off all the lights that I forget to turn off. He also motivates me on the regular to do the things I want to do but might be lazy about. In general, Braden motivates me to be more adventurous, push myself and try new things.

Braden
Friends and family both mean a lot to us. I think that makes for a strong foundation in a relationship. We also share a desire to be active. Stacy has stepped out of her comfort zone and has joined me in some of my adventurous passions like skiing and backpacking in the beautiful PNW. But I think the one aspect that grounds our relationship is that we are truly best friends.

Stacy
Over the last few years Braden has pushed me to get back into skiing which has been amazing for our relationship, except for when he accidentally took me down a double black diamond?. We have gone on ski trips and enjoy skiing locally too. Skiing is something that we both want to do for as long as we can and hopefully teach our kids someday too. We love backpacking too! Overall, we both have a really solid passion for just having a good time and we try not to take life too serious.

Braden
We enjoy getting froyo together, dancing together, being weird together, and just being in each other’s company.

Stacy
For our birthdays the other person always gets up early in the morning to make the other person breakfast. On the daily its coffee in the mornings, walks around Queen Anne that always end up at a stop to get froyo and impromptu dance parties-party of two.

Braden
I can’t wait to continue this adventure together with Stacy. I expect a lot of dancing, laughing, and pancakes.

Stacy
I can’t wait to marry Braden!
