Documenting Love: Aubree & Elizabeth's Story

Welcome to our Documenting Love series where we capture people's love stories through photos and the written word. This may be one of our favorite weekly series! Check out the gallery and read the couples love story below. Keep in mind that we ask the couples to answer the questions separately so we can draw parallels between their experiences and, you know, say a collective, "Ahhhhhhh!" If you or someone you know wants to be featured in this series, please get in touch with us, hello@seattlerefined.com.

Elizabeth
My first memory of my love is opening the door (accidentally) in her face as I was exiting the bar I frequented. She stopped me in her tracks with her beauty so I felt compelled to tell her that she was beautiful.

Aubree
My first memory of Elizabeth was her opening the door in my face and her telling me I was beautiful and subsequently me being speechless by her beauty.

Elizabeth
We met a a local bar called the Slip Inn in Dallas, Texas. Its has since been renamed, but the red door still remains and that door is near and dear to us ! Every time we visit Dallas, where we met we always stop and take a picture!

Aubree
I'm most proud of Elizabeth for getting sober among many other things but that's number one.

Elizabeth
I am proud of her for far she has come in her life, career and our relationship. She has gotten promoted four times in about a couple years and she never ceases to amaze me with her talents. She is even amazing with what she does for our home with building things! She grows daily.

Aubree
I knew I loved Elizabeth a week into dating her.

Elizabeth
I knew I loved Aubree from our first date! I joked with her one time, we laughed at something, and I said still laughing "I love you so much!" I said it was a joke but I truly meant it. When you know you know, and I knew on that first date.

Aubree
What set's up apart is our emotional connection, respect and admiration for each other.

Elizabeth
We have an incredible bond when it comes to traveling apart. When we first started dating her father asked her if I knew how much Aubree traveled for work. We have been together almost six years and I miss her every single time she leaves. I make sure that when she leaves, that she gets a greeting card for everyday she is gone (we have accumulated a lot!), and she sends me flowers as a surprise when she is gone! When she gets home, I always make sure to pick her up, and get creative. Sometimes dressing as a chauffeur with a sign that reads her name as my pick up. We never let the distance work against us.

Aubree
I was nervous for the proposal! The day wasn't going as planned and even though I knew she'd say yes I was nervous to actually ask.

Elizabeth
We were in Columbia, South Carolina for the holidays, where Aubree is from, and we decided to go to Charleston for an overnight stay which I had never been! It was raining, so her mom sent us with an umbrella and I can remember hearing her say, "make sure you bring my umbrella back!" Well we went to visit a very important and special place that Aubree and her grandparents went to visit when she was a child. It was a pineapple fountain! We walked to it and it was pouring down and I recall Aubree acting a bit strange, almost fidgety with something in her purse! I had no clue what was happening. I said "okay, can we go now," because the rain was really coming down. She then says " lets walk to the other side off the fountain" which had me thinking whats really going on?

She then knelt down and I threw the umbrella out of shock and excitement to hug her after she proposed and we both started crying. Next thing you know, THE RAIN STOPPED. We then realized the umbrella was gone but it turns out it was upside down in the fountain and oh my goodness it made for the best picture ever.

Aubree
The thing I love most about Elizabeth is her heart. She has taught me to give, to think less about myself and more about others.

Elizabeth
I love how funny Aubree is and how giving she is especially when it comes to food because I'm the total opposite! She just has the most beautiful heart.

Aubree
My favorite qualities in Elizabeth are her energy. It's a lot for me sometimes but it was what drew me to her the first time we met. Also her work ethic. She works so hard and never takes time for herself. She's dedicated and loyal.

Elizabeth
Aubree is an excellent planner, she is super responsible with paying our bills on time - she's the adult of the century. She is fantastic with party planning and making everyone feel included.

Aubree
The sexiest thing about Elizabeth is her smile. It lights up a room and is so infectious. It's the most beautiful smile ever.

Elizabeth
So many things are sexy about Aubree. When she tells me about her job, her responsibilities, just the knowledge she has...its truly sexy to hear her talk about it. Physically? Her legs. The most amazing legs.

Aubree
My favorite things to do with Elizabeth is couch time! I love it any day that we get to do it.

Elizabeth
We absolutely love our couch time. We don't get a lot of time together with her traveling and my schedule so when we are able to connect on the couch with our fur babies, we take advantage of that time. We also LOVE eating tons of popcorn and other goodies. Oh my gosh and we LOVE Dateline. We are very different in our tastes but we always feel so connected over true crime shows! Also checking out new coffee shops is special for us too.
