Local owner bids $10k to land her senior dogs on magazine cover

Missy and Max are ready for their close-up!

These dogs are going to be featured on the cover of the latest edition of CityDog Magazine, Seattle's only entirely dog-focused publication.

It's a pretty big deal - but owner Daryl Russinovich thinks they're ready. After all, they've been prepping since she bid on the cover back in May at the Seattle Humane Tuxes and Tails event.

You heard that right - Russinovich ended up bidding $10,000 to snag the cover for Missy and Max.

"I’m on the board and this is the only way for these dogs and cats to get a home," she said. "It’s a no-kill shelter, and they’re there for as long as it takes for them to find their forever home.”

But as cute as they are, Max and Missy aren't regular models - so they can't use a regular photographer.

“The secret to posing pets is trying out what motivates them," said Julie Austin, founder of Any Pet Photography. "That's treats for dogs, toys for cats. These dogs are awesome! I have the best job in the world."

CityDog Magazine was started in 2005 by Brandie Ahrgren as a place for dog lovers to learn and share all the great things to do with their pets in the Pacific Northwest.

Look for Missy and Max on the next issue!
