I think it’s safe to say we are now officially into summer season…breaking out the shorts and swim suit can often be the cause of a slight panic given we’ve been hiding under sweaters and leggings for far too long. If you’ve been trying to work on your bikini bod, but don’t necessarily want to spend the money to hire a personal trainer or join multiple “hip” gyms, spending a couple bucks on an app that brings challenging workouts to you anywhere you are can be a much better (and cheaper) option! I’ve compiled a list of the best apps that contain challenging workouts you can do at home, at any time, no matter what your fitness goals are!
Nike Training Club
This has been a fav of mine for quite some time. Not only do you get to pick your intensity level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) this app is chalked full of workouts from 10-15 minute stretching sequences, workouts only focusing on isolated areas, and up to 45 minute cardio/full body challenges as well. The more you do, the more badges you earn and it tracks your progress! This is perfect if you are trying to fit in a workout between meetings or to build up your strength to more challenging categories. Best part - it’s free!
Sugary Six Pack
These workouts from Niki, a super fit and friendly brunette will bring you amazing HIIT (High intensity interval training) circuits that will leave you SORE the next day. With multiple rounds of workouts, complete the recommended amount (4) if you have time, but if you’re tapped out at two sequences, feel free to stop there. There are a handful of free workouts that will not disappoint and for about $30, you can unlock countless fitness routines that address almost every workout need. Plus, if you follow sugarysixpack on instagram, she posts live videos and new workout sequences all the time which make it easy to ask questions and interact with her!
C25K (Couch to 5K)
You’ve heard of crawl, walk, run…well this app takes you from Netflix binging to running your first official race! This app is perfect for those who’s bucket list contains completing a 5K (which is about 3 miles) but you need to start very very small. This app will take you step by step and make your race training feel easy for just $5!
Running for Weight Loss
This app talks you through a run whether it’s outside on the open road or on your treadmill. With a variety of bursts consisting of walking, running, and sprinting (for a very short amount of time) this app’s job is to help you burn the most fat possible. The narrator will count you in and tell you when it’s time to recover, while they encourage you along the way. Great for cardio days in between weight lifting workouts. The PRO version is just $2 and connects to your apple watch for handsfree runs!
Not only does this app help with fitness but tracks your food and counts your calories for you. Combining this app with your activities will help you shed those pounds in no time! Not sure of how nutritious your foods are? Scan the barcode of any item and it’ll tell you the nutrition facts and there are over 6 million foods in their data base! Definitely a great option if you're tackling your health and fitness from all angles!
