Northern Washington’s Diablo Lake is well known for its almost luminescent shade of blue, but as nature photographer James Esh shows us, the lake takes on a richer, moodier hue in the low light of fall! While you’re visiting, be sure to save some time to explore the dense surrounding forest and swing by the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center (whose updated hours and safety precautions can be found here). Also, take note from James and keep your camera at the ready when you reach a clearing – you could be treated to some epic views of nearby peaks! Click along in the gallery below for a taste of what an autumn visit to this area could look like.
