Oregon company makes jacket in response to Melania's 'don't care' jacket

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland-based clothing company Wildfang is responding to the jacket Melania Trump wore Thursday on her visit to the U.S.-Mexico by making their own jacket with a very different message.

Melania Trump’s jacket had the words “I really don’t care, do U?” printed on it. Images of her in the jacket sparked public outrage on social media. Many are wondering why she made this fashion decision on a trip to visit migrant children who were separated from their parents.

In response, Wildfang posted a photo on Instagram showing a model wearing a jacket that says, “I really care, don’t U?” shortly after the internet started buzzing about the jacket the first lady wore.

The clothing company captioned the photo saying, “Sooo what if we made our own version of Melania’s jacket and donated all the proceeds to @raicestexas, WHO’S IN?”

The post went viral with several people commenting, “Yesssss,” “I’m getting one,” and “Would buy it in a heart beat!!”

So, the company took the idea and ran with it. They updated the post later to say, “**UPDATE WE’RE DOING IT, LINK IN BIO***”

In just a few hours, the jacket was sold out on the Wildfang website. However, there are also T-shirts and bomber jackets sporting the printed message that are still for sale.

As promised, the company says 100 percent of the proceeds goes to the nonprofit RAICES – The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services.

The nonprofit currently has a campaign to end family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border.
