Just Dance: Local charity provides prom dresses to high-schoolers

Ah, high school. Whether you had a wonderful time or horrible time - we can all attest that those are some extremely formative years. Everything feels so important, and is so dramatic. If you didn't, or couldn't, go to Prom - that was a game changer.

Ruby Room is a local nonprofit that understands how epically lame it is when high schoolers can't make it to their favorite dances, especially when it has to do with financial abilities. Dance tickets usually cost money, and that's not even factoring in dresses, hair and makeup, accessories, etc. Their recent benefit brought teens from across the state in town to receive a dress they can keep, at no charge, for their next dance.

Each gal gets a personal shopper volunteer who helps her in picking out the perfect dress and accessories! Three Seattle-area designers were part of this last week's event: Deyonte Weather Collection, Mac Fashion House and Cute Like Mad. Each designer designed four looks and crafted each look with Ruby Room dresses and at the end of the night Mac Fashion House was voted fan favorite and Deyonte Weather Collection won overall competition and walked away with $1000.
