DIY your new favorite piece of jewelry at Bead Fest Fall

New York Fashion Week is in full force and we are already being bombarded with images of insanely gorgeous jewelry. As much as we NEED it, the reality is that most of us can’t afford these straight-off-the-runway pieces. Our solution? Learn how to make your own stunning jewelry at Bead Fest Fall, happening October 13-16 in Tacoma.

For 15 years, Bead Fest has been providing jewelry artists of all skill levels, styles and budgets with top-notch education, the opportunity to network with fellow artists and a serious dose of inspiration. The event is native to the East Coast, but in recent years, Bead Fest has set up shop in Santa Fe and has received lots of love from West Coast jewelry artists.

So, why should you come to Bead Fest?

First off, there is a workshop for everyone. No joke. Whether you want to spend just $5, or shell out a few hundred bucks, you can get one-on-one instruction from some of the industry’s best instructors. In addition, there are tons of techniques to choose from. Offered techniques include soldering, leatherwork, metalsmithing, mixed media, bead stitching, enameling, glassworking—the list goes on.

If you’re a beginner, on a tight budget, or just want to try out a variety of techniques without spending a lot of cash, check out Shipwreck Beads Inspiration Playground, located in Bead Fest Fall’s Expo Hall. You can create $5 Make & Take pieces including a chic, Instagram-worthy fringed charm (perfect for your favorite handbag), or a leather bracelet that’s far from basic.

After you get your craft on and learn how to make beautiful jewelry, explore Bead Fest’s impressive Expo, stocked with all of the gemstones, beads, tools, findings and finished pieces you could ever imagine. The carefully curated selection of exhibitor booths is an awesome mix of local, national and international artists and makers.
