Local Designer Megan Bishop was sitting in a Trader Joe's parking lot when her friend texted her a photo of actress Amber Heard, who was wearing one of Bishop's designs to one of the biggest nights in fashion - The Met Gala.
"My phone blew up with notifications and it hasn't stopped since," said Bishop.
Bishop owns a Seattle studio, Apatico, that takes inspiration from fetish fashion, dark fantasy, clubkids, goth and punk styles.
The headpiece, "Katrina Halo Crown Headpiece" was only $38 and was sported by the actress.
"I didn't know Amber Heard would be wearing this. I sold three crowns to her stylist and friend Emily Dawn Long a couple of weeks ago but I was not informed of who the client was," said Bishop.
The attention that the local designer has received has been quite overwhelming and has taken the internet by a storm.
"There have been write ups in Insider, Bustle, and Huffington Post," said Bishop. "A ton of almost viral activity on Twitter and Instagram, including a meme. Lots of new followers and orders! I'm a bit overwhelmed and incredibly grateful."
Bishop has had her work featured in Marie Claire, Elle Canada, Teen Vogue, Bust and more but not at this caliber of an event.
"It's all incredibly exciting! I'm beyond thrilled and extremely honored that this has happened," said Bishop.
