It's not up for debate — Seattle LOVES food.
And we're a city that also loves to support local. You can't turn a corner without stumbling upon a niche local restaurant or dive bar! There are so many, in fact, that Seattle has been ranked #7 in the nation for most food-obsessed cities.
Business.org ranked cities by the number of restaurants per 100,000 residents — as well as each city's top-rated local establishment — using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, TripAdvisor and Yelp.
Seattle came in at approximately 446 restaurants for every 100,000 residents, with our top-rated local establishment being Pike Place Chowder. This report also states there are more than 3,300 local restaurants in the city — wild!
It would be difficult to find a restaurant that wasn't impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Since they are slowly but surely in the process of reopening, Business.org put this report together to highlight these small businesses and cities that just love food.
King County is officially in Phase 2 as of June 19, so make sure to check out our running list of restaurants, bars and cafes that are opening in some capacity. If you'd like to add your business to the list, please reach out at email@example.com.
