Portland's Salt & Straw planning new store in Seattle

SEATTLE - Portland's fast-growing ice cream shop is opening up a new location in Seattle.

Salt & Straw says it plans to build a store in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood on the corner of Pike Street and Boylston Avenue.

The company says it will introduce a new line of Seattle-only flavors in addition to regular flavors.

Some of the flavors currently posted to the company's Portland-based menus are ... a bit unique, to say the least. (Pear and Blue Cheese, anyone?)

Salt & Straw was founded in 2012 and specializes in handmade ice cream made with local ingredients.

"We can't wait to collaborate with our Seattle chef, farmer, artisan and school pals to capture the spirit of SEA in a cone," Salt & Straw said in an Instagram post Thursday.

The company has locations in Portland and Los Angeles and recently announced plans to open shop in San Francisco as well.
